“The magic happens just outside the comfort zone.”
Choirs Connected – Our own ‘Choirs Connected Choir’, invites a child and adult from the same family* to join as a pair! The adult* may be a parent, carer, step parent, grandparent, auntie, uncle or even teacher.
Come and develop new skills, self-confidence and have fun together, not to mention share the immense sense of achievement after the concert. With just ten rehearsals they have to be fun, fast and focused so all participants are ready to connect and sing with our other choirs at the Palace Theatre, creating a concert day not to be missed. We believe the student adult partnership is unique to Choirs Connected because you join as a pair.
All places are subsidised meaning it costs just £35.00 per pair, which we believe represents fantastic value for money.
For parents whose children are entitled to Free School Meals the course is entirely free.
Not for Profit
Choirs Connected is a not for profit business from Redditch for Redditch, founded in September 2016 by Maria Brannelly.
We are very grateful to the following organisations for their kind and generous support, which enables us to subsidise every place, in the hope that this will encourage as many local families to participate as possible:
Libraries & Learning – Adult Learning,
Worcestershire County Council
Maria Brannelly is a trained musician and teacher with a background in learning and teaching and developing choirs and community links. Maria has heard many positive things said to her choirs over the years, but the favourite compliment is: “When you sing you bring the songs to life, but more than that when you sing, you come to life!” This has become her inspiration for Choirs Connected.
A classically trained pianist and violinist, with considerable experience in composing, arranging and conducting, she has established herself as an outstanding music educator within schools, with many of her students going on to pursue their own careers within the music industry. She has been a senior school leader for the last eight years but always a musician at heart! She is now returning to Redditch to reconnect with her musical roots and is the founder and Music Director of Choirs Connected.
Samantha Gorton brings significant experience in high quality productions and school based singing to Choirs Connected and her effervescent personality brings an infectious love of all things musical! A scholarship graduate from Birmingham Conservatoire and winner of the prestigious Cecil Drew Oratorio prize, Sam toured America and Europe singing professionally. She has coached and conducted numerous children’s choirs including the professional touring production of ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicoloured Dream Coat.’
